Drive-thru meat market pulling into Indy

Forget pulling up in your car for that caramel latte or an order of French fries.

A new drive-through craze has hit: Fresh meat in bulk (we're talking 40-pound cases) and it's coming to Indy.

Washington-based Zaycon Foods will bring its temporary drive-through meat market to Indianapolis, Avon, Greenwood and Fishers, next week.

While the company sells an array of meats, such as chicken, turkey breasts pulled pork, ground beef and fish, the upcoming Indianapolis area meat markets will feature bacon and sausage.

The way it works: register online (it's free), place your order and arrive at the designated pick-up spot on the day of the market. The meat comes in 15 to 40 pound cases depending on the item.

Zaycon says because it sells in bulk, customers pay wholesale prices, with a typical 50 percent discount over retail meat departments.

For example, Zaycon's fresh chicken breasts sell for as little as $1.69 a pound for a 40-pound case.

When picking up your meat, simply pull into the parking lot (the Indy events are at churches) and your order is loaded into your vehicle.

The company says it sells "the freshest meat you can buy short of raising it yourself."

All products are picked up directly from ranchers and processors as little as one day before the delivery date. They are also hormone-free and delivered in refrigerated trucks.

Founded in 2010, Zaycon has more than 325,000 registered users in more than 1,000 locations across 48 states.
