A woman who was a victim in a hit-and-run accident in March has died.

Tanya Turman, 41, was hit on March 26 when a man driving an SUV ran through the intersection of Bolton Avenue and Staughton Drive. Turman was walking from her Northeastside apartment to a nearby bus stop at the time.

She was taken to IU Health Methodist in critical condition. After the accident, family members told Fox59 News that they feared she would not survive. Turman, who was hearing impaired with limited vision, had several surgeries.

Family members pleaded for the driver who hit her to come forward.

Surveillance cameras near the accident showed a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe hitting Turman and leaving the scene.

The driver of the car, Patrick Corey, 31, turned himself in to police April 12. He was preliminarily charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury. Those charges could be increased now that Turman has died.

Chief deputy coroner Alfie Bellew confirmed Turman's death.
