Could the Pacers bring Trey Lyles back to Indianapolis?

As the NBA draft approaches, Tech boys basketball coach Jason Delaney has been hearing from a number of teams regarding 2014 IndyStar Mr. Basketball Trey Lyles.

The draft lottery order won't be decided until May 19, five weeks prior to the draft. The 6-10 Lyles, who averaged 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds and was named to the Southeastern Conference all-freshman team as a player at the University of Kentucky, is slotted from the No. 13 to 18 overall picks in mock drafts compiled by Sports Illustrated (13), USA Today (16) and Draft Express (18).

Several teams have called Delaney to ask for background on Lyles, who led Tech to a Class 4A state title in 2014. They include the Pacers, Suns, Hornets, Pelicans, Thunder, Hawks, Bucks and 76ers. The Pacers are currently slotted at No. 11 in the draft order with 6-11 Texas freshman Myles Turner and 6-9 UCLA freshman Kevon Looney as potential picks in several mock drafts.

The 76ers are currently slated to pick third, the highest draft slot of the teams to inquire about Lyles to Delaney.

Lyles was a decorated high school player, earning McDonald's All American honors and the state's Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. He was a four-year starter and averaged 23.7 points, 12.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists as a senior.
