Marrialle Sellars lost a shoe but not her composure during her first live performance on "American Idol."

The Indianapolis 18-year-old sang Katy Perry's "Roar" Tuesday night, and Sellars ended her performance by unexpectedly holding one of her red platform stilettos by her face.

While the cause of the shoe mishap was unclear, "Idol's" trio of celebrity judges gave Sellars mixed marks for her singing.

Keith Urban credited Sellars for salvaging the performance, but labeled her vocals as being "too karaoke."

Jennifer Lopez said the performance lacked the pure simplicity of Sellars' initial audition in Detroit.

Harry Connick Jr. told Sellars that she's a superstar, but she wasn't one on Tuesday.

Regardless of how audience voting turns out, Sellars fared better than five competitors who didn't get the chance to sing. As part of "Idol's" new "Rush Week" format, Urban, Lopez and Connick picked just 10 of 15 female singers for the first live telecast of "Idol's" 13th season.

The other nine singers selected to perform on Tuesday: MK Nobilette, Emily Piriz, Malaya Watson, Bria Anai, Jessica Meuse, Kristen O'Connor, Majesty Rose York, Jena Irene Ascuitto and Briana Oakley.

Wednesday's "Rush Week" episode will focus on the Top 15 male singers remaining on the televised talent search. The show airs at 8 p.m. on WXIN-59.

The roster of this season's 13 finalists will be unveiled during Thursday's episode.
