The $400 million Powerball jackpot tops the list of lottery payouts in this convenience store in Minneapolis on Feb. 18.

At least one winning ticket was sold in Wednesday night's jackpot Powerball lottery, according to NBC News, which reports the total prize is now $425 million.

The ticket was sold at a Chevron Station in the Dixon Landing area of Milpitas, Calif., according to a Chevron employee at a nearby station and according to the San Jose Mercury News.

An employee at the Dixon Landing filling station said, however, that he and his coworkers did not yet get confirmation that they sold the ticket.

"We're getting telephone calls," said employee Bipin Sangh at the 24-hour station. "We're not sure."

The winning ticket was purchased at a Chevron station in Santa Clara County, Calif., NBC says it was told by California lottery officials.

Powerball confirmed on its website that there was a winner in California.

California lottery officials could not be reached late Wednesday night.

Earlier reports from Powerball officials set the price at $400 million, with cash value of $227.8 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.

The winning numbers of 1, 17, 35, 49 and 54, with Powerball number of 34 and Power Play number of 3 were selected Wednesday night around 11 p.m. ET.

This prize has been growing bigger and bigger since December.

The jackpot jumped to $400 million over the weekend after there were no winning tickets sold in Saturday's drawing for $330 million.

The biggest ever Powerball prize was $590 million before taxes, won by a woman in Florida in May 2013. The highest lottery jackpot ever was shared by three tickets in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland in March 2012 for a Mega Millions jackpot totaling $656 million.

Powerball is played in 43 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning are one in 175 million, according to the association.

The Multi-State Lottery Association is a non-profit based in Urbandale, Iowa, owned and operated by member lotteries.
