State, county and local law enforcement agencies will be partnering to conduct roving DUI sobriety checkpoints and patrols throughout Marion County on July 3.

The checkpoints and patrols will be in effect between 10 p.m. on July 3 and 4 a.m. on July 4. The project is funded by a grant from the Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving.

There were 96 alcohol-related traffic collisions in Indiana between the evening of July 3 and the morning of July 7 in 2014, resulting in 58 injuries and 6 deaths, according to the Hamilton County Traffic Safety Partnership.
