Paul Poteet: Showers and storms likely today

Paul Poteet
Temps

A warm and humid day is ahead, with breezy conditions and periods of showers and storms. The best chances will be from late morning until just after sunset tonight. High temperatures will be in the low 80s, It won't be as hot as our sizzling, sun-fueled Sunday.

Sunday's high temperatures:

• 89 - Terre Haute.

• 88 - Bloomington, Lafayette and Muncie.

• 87 - Indianapolis - the city's warmest of the year.

Seven-day forecast

Tuesday should become partly cloudy and the bulk of the day will be dry. That should allow temperatures to jump back to the mid 80s. Severe thunderstorms are still possible Wednesday. An upper air trough of low pressure should be digging into the Ohio Valley, and a stalled frontal system should be just to the south of central Indiana at the surface. The chance for rough stuff - at the moment - is equally as great at any time of day Wednesday.

This week we spell relief T-h-u-r-s-d-a-y. That's when drier, less humid air moves in, and once again it should stay through Saturday. Sooner or later, we'll have a terrible Saturday, but it appears once again the weekend storm chance will wait until Sunday.
