Greenwood Community High School’s girls golf coach has resigned after police caught him having sex with a 17-year-old female student in a parked vehicle, according to Indianapolis police.

Tim Guilfoy, 36, was arrested late Friday on two preliminary charges of child seduction, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The Marion County prosecutor’s office will make a final decision on the charges.

Officers investigating a suspicious vehicle discovered a nude Guilfoy and the girl inside a GMC Sierra pickup parked in the 8800 block of South Madison Avenue about midnight Friday, Lt. Christopher Bailey said in a statement.

“When asked what they were doing, Guilfoy told the officer they were having sex,” according to Bailey’s statement. “Guilfoy also told officers he was a teacher at Greenwood High School and that the female inside the truck was one of his students.”

Guilfoy resigned from the school corporation Sunday, Superintendent Kent DeKoninck said Monday in a written statement.

“Greenwood Community School Corp. officials intend to fully cooperate with law enforcement authorities in their investigation,” he said.

Greenwood schools hired Guilfoy in 2000.

Guilfoy was released Sunday from the Marion County Jail after posting $7,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear for an initial hearing Wednesday.
