Former Purdue star Joy Holmes Harris to Ohio Hall

Former Purdue star Joy Holmes Harris will be inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

Joy Holmes Harris, with her son, Gary Harris, was an All-American at Purdue in the early 1990's.

Harris, the mother of 2012 IndyStar Mr. Basketball Gary Harris (Hamilton Southeastern/Michigan State), was a standout at Mansfield High School in Ohio before breaking several records at Purdue from 1988-91.

Harris scored 1,747 career points at Purdue and averaged 21.5 points and 9.2 rebounds as a senior to earn Big Ten Conference Player of the Year honors. She went on to play professionally for several years, including in the WNBA with the Detroit Shock.

The 17-member class will be officially inducted on May 21, 2016 at the Columbus Convention Center. Former University of Cincinnati star Danny Fortson and former ABA/NBA coach Al Bianchi are among others who will be inducted.
