Pumpkin is everywhere this time of year: from lattes and pies to our front porches and even our beer.

One place you may not expect to find it though, is your local salon or day spa.

Packed full of antioxidants that are great for your skin like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc, as well as fruit enzymes and alpha-hydroxy acids, pumpkin is used to moisturize and soften, increase cell renewal and collagen production, as well as brighten and smooth the skin.

And to think they’re best known for making good jack-o-lanterns. Here are five ways pumpkin can help you look great and get in the mood for fall.

Pumpkin Patch Massage

Using a gliding Swedish massage technique, esthetician and massage therapist Michelle Duncan first provides a warming massage with scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, pumpkin and rum. Next, warm herbal steamed towels are applied to the body, followed by a pumpkin spice back treatment to slough and replenish the skin.

Prior to Nov. 1, 8150 Oaklandon Road, Suite 102; after Nov. 1, 515 E. Broadway, Fortville, $50 for 60 minutes, (317) 661-1357,michelleduncanskincare.com .

Pumpkin Spice Pedicure

Just like a popular seasonal coffee drink that shall go unnamed, the pumpkin spice pedicure at Glow Salon and Spa is available for a limited time only. The foot treatment includes callus removal, scrub, and a massage all topped with a glaze of color for your toes.

1928 Rhettsbury St., Carmel, $35, (317) 846-3073,glowsalonindy.com.

Pumpkin Mask

Available as an add-on to a service for an additional $30, Roberts Salon and Spa reports that its pumpkin mask contains more than 100 beneficial nutrients that help reverse the signs of aging.

899 Loews Blvd., Greenwood, $30 add-on to any spa treatment, (317) 881-8207,robertssalonandspa.com.

Hydrating Pumpkin Facial

Evan Todd Spa & Salon at the Conrad Indianapolis is offering a new facial for fall. The Hydrating Pumpkin Facial includes a pumpkin mask as well as a nutmeg scrub, both of which incorporate the scents of pumpkin, cinnamon bark, vanilla and nutmeg. Be sure to arrive early and enjoy the spa’s steam room, sauna and pool prior to the treatment.

50 W. Washington St., $120, (317) 524-2575, evantoddindianapolis.com.

Pumpkin Toner

Pumpkins are said to be approximately 90 percent water, which makes them the perfect ingredient for skin toners. No time for the spa? Snag the Pumpkin Toner from Spa 170 West at Meridian Plastic Surgeons and enjoy it all autumn long.

170 W. 106th St., $30 a bottle, (317) 558-1541,spa170west.com.
