An Indianapolis man found suffering from a gunshot wound Wednesday evening in a pickup truck alongside the westbound lanes of I-70, near I-465, on Indianapolis' Eastside, has died.

Police have identified him as Derrick Gregory, 30, Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police said they responded at 6:30 p.m. to a report of a disabled Chevy Silverado on I-70, near mile marker 88.8, that's back-end had been lifted up onto a guardrail.

When troopers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound alone in the Chevy. The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he died Thanksgiving at 6:15 p.m.

ISP detectives secured the scene and impounded the man's Chevy. Police confirmed the windshield and driver's side door of the truck were riddled with bullet holes.

As of Thursday evening, police said, investigators have not yet determined if Gregory was targeted, or simply caught in the crossfire.
