Fed up with snow? Sign this 'Stop The Snow' petition

No controversy on the Internet is complete these days without a petition where one can add one's name to the ranks of those unhappy with said issue.

So why should this seemingly-never-ending winter snow be any different?

That's the idea behind StopTheSnow.org!

"HOOSIERS ARE FED UP!" it proclaims. "TOGETHER, LET'S UNITE AND STAND UP FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE IN: SWEAT, SUNBURN, & SWIMMING POOLS."

Of course: creator Adam Whitaker of Westfield, a freelance web developer, knows that no petition can REALLY stop the weather.

Adam Whitaker of Westfield, who created the StopTheSnow.org website, has been working in web design for seven years.

But he said his site is a fun way to commiserate with others in Indiana who are bummed out about the snow.

"This year it's like, Can it just stop snowing for two seconds?" said Whitaker, a married father of three who is originally from Carmel.

After about two hours of work Tuesday, Whitaker had the site up and running and started promoting it on social media, getting an assist from one of his clients, Star meteorologist Paul Poteet.

As of late Wednesday morning, Whitaker said, the site had snagged about 1,400 signatures. Most are from central Indiana, Whitaker said, but he's also seen a smattering from elsewhere: Texas, Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois, New York and even California.

"It blew up bigger than I expected," he said.
