Police tape surrounds the scene of an investigation.

A woman is dead following a car crash on the Far Eastside, and investigators are looking for the driver of another car that was discovered abandoned nearby, police said.

Indianapolis Metro Police officers responded to the 100 block of Delbrick Lane around 10:30 p.m. on a report of a car that had slammed into a tree.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews, police said.

Officers found an unoccupied silver 2003 Chevy Impala nearby, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department press release said. Police are searching for the driver of that car.

At this time, police have not said whether the crash was intentional.

A press release said homicide investigators are at the scene gathering information.

No other information was immediately provided.
