Looking to do something good and have a good time while you're at it? We've listed some events you can get involved in. If you like to get dressed up and can afford a ticket, the fancier events might be your speed. If you want to give your time but not spend a dime, sign up for the United Way Day of Caring, dig in the dirt or check out other opportunities.

CENTER OF WELLNESS FOR URBAN WOMEN GARDEN

9 a.m. to noon March 28

If you're itching to get outside and play in the dirt, join Keep Indianapolis Beautiful for a morning of pruning, raking, mulching and hardscape repairs in this wellness garden. Free.

WHEELER MISSION SHELTER

4:30 p.m. March 31

You can sign up to help serve a meal at Wheeler Mission other times, but this session is coordinated by a group called Indy Volunteers: Making a Difference. It meets the last Tuesday of the month.

BLUE BREAKFAST

7 to 9 a.m. April 2

The eighth annual Blue Breakfast benefits Coburn Place Safe Haven, Indy's largest transitional housing facility for domestic abuse survivors and their children. A Coburn Place graduate will share her story, and a representative from the Indianapolis Colts will speak. $65.

FOSTER PARENTINFORMATION NIGHT

6 to 8 p.m. April 7

With more than 12,000 children in Indiana's foster care system at any given time, there is a constant need for foster families. The Villages of Indiana, the state's largest private therapeutic foster care provider, is hosting a free information event for prospective foster parents.

LEMONADE DAYGAME SHOW NIGHT

6 to 7:30 p.m. April 9

Someone's going to get slimed at this Game Show Night hosted by financial planner Peter Dunn. The event pits teams of local entrepreneurs and media personalities (including The Star's Erika Smith) against each other in physical and mental challenges loosely based on the old Nickelodeon show "Double Dare." $20. SPRING DAY OF CARING

April 10-11

United Way of Central Indiana is seeking volunteers for its annual spring Day of Caring. Registration is open to individuals, families, businesses and organizations.

Opportunities include: collecting hygiene items for homeless veterans; cleaning up a neighborhood garden; helping senior citizens with home maintenance; and hosting a family game or movie event for survivors of violence.

THRIFTY THREADS

10:30 a.m. April 11

Get some retail therapy and help the women and kids who have found temporary shelter at the Julian Center, which assists victims of abuse and domestic violence. Volunteers will be sorting and hanging clothing.

BUILD-A-SCHOOL NIGHT

6 p.m. April 17

Building Tomorrow, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that builds schools in Uganda, will have a gala fundraiser. In 2014, as part of the Clinton Global Initiative, Building Tomorrow intro-duced Educate51k, its five-year, $12 million plan to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for more than 50,000 children in rural communities across Uganda. $125.

GLOW TENNIS

8 p.m. to midnight April 18

National Junior Tennis League of Indianapolis and EntouRaj for Kids are hosting a glow-in-the-dark tennis party for a good cause. There will be a variety of events for all ages and skill levels, plus a Midnight Madness Glow Tennis Tournament. $25 to $50. Proceeds support scholarships for kids.
