Two Indianapolis charter schools whose charters were not renewed by Ball State University will close in June.

Fall Creek Academy and University Heights Preparatory Academy will be shuttered at the close of the school year, according to a news release.

“As soon as we were notified of Ball State’s decision, we immediately put a plan into action to notify those who would be affected,” Charlie Schlegel, superintendent of the two schools, said in a statement. “While we are proud of the progress our students, faculty and staff made during our administration, in the end, progress did not occur quickly enough to keep the schools open.”

School officials plan to hold six meetings in the coming week to address parents’ concerns.

Fall Creek Academy, 2540 N. Capitol Ave., was in danger of closing in 2011 after its application for sponsorship was rejected by Ball State. University Heights Preparatory Academy is at 3919 Madison Ave.
