The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra announced Thursday that eclectic artists, Pulitzer-winning composers and local environmental groups will connect music and the environment during a new music festival.

Singer-songwriter Ben Folds, string trio Time For Three, instrumentalist Kishi Bashi (Joyful Noise Recordings) and baroque pop outfit San Fermin will be part of the INfusion Music Fest, taking place April 28-30.

INfusion Music Fest will also mark the last local performance for Time For Three founding member Zach De Pue. De Pue is stepping down from his role in the eclectic trio to focus on his job as concertmaster at the ISO. Violinist Nikki Chooi is De Pue’s replacement.

The festival will be led by up-and-coming contemporary conductor Jayce Ogren. Highlights to the program include John Luther Adams’ Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning “Become Ocean,” which addresses melting polar ice caps and rising sea levels.

Pre-show exhibits and talks from Earth Charter Indiana, the Hoosier Environmental Council, the Indianapolis Zoo and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful will connect what’s being presented on stage with what’s happening to the natural world around us.

Zach De Pue's boyhood tribute to mom killed when he was 6 debuts at ISO

INfusion Music Fest tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Feb. 25. Tickets can be purchased at (317) 639-4300 or www.IndianapolisSymphony.org.
