Mayor Joe Hogsett's former press secretary has been charged in connection to an incident earlier this month that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a woman's car, according to court documents.

Dan Goldblatt, who no longer works for the mayor's office, a spokeswoman for the office confirmed, was charged last week with criminal mischief damage after he allegedly kicked the driver's side door of a woman's car, making a "large dent and leaving scuff marks," the documents said.

The 32-year-old woman told police she was driving through a yellow light at the intersection of Washington and Pennsylvania streets Tuesday afternoon when Goldblatt crossed the street in front of her and kicked her car in what she described as an "angry, reckless manner," according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The woman "pulled over to inspect the damage and advised the male that she was going to call the police and he was going to go to jail, at which time he stated, 'Like that will happen,' " the report says.

The woman said Goldblatt was walking toward the City-County Building at the time. She was able to capture him on video as he entered the building. Goldblatt "smiled for the camera and proceeded to put up his middle finger" to the woman, court documents said.

The car sustained $4000 in damage, according to documents.
