Left to right, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Indiana Governor Mike Pence greet each other at the Governor's Residence on April 20, 2016, after the governor met with Trump for aboutan hour before heading to a rally at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump did not extend an offer to Gov. Mike Pence to become his vice president during their meeting over the weekend, according to Pence's campaign.

However, Trump will be back in Indianaon  July 12 for a campaign fundraiser, three days before Pence's deadline to withdraw from Indiana's gubernatorial election ballot, if he were to become Trump's running mate.

The Republican party's nominating convention begins on July 18 in Cleveland.

The meeting occurred amid speculation that Pence was in consideration to join Trump's campaign.

Marc Lotter, Pence's deputy campaign manager, was not able to say whether the two talked about the possibility during the meeting.

"They talked about policies that are working in Indiana and the future of this country," Lotter said. "Nothing was offered during the meeting, and nothing was accepted."

Pence endorsed Trump in May, after first endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz ahead of the state's May 3 primary election. Cruz dropped out of the race the day after losing Indiana to Trump, who received 53.3 percent of votes.

“I’m fully supportive of our presumptive nominee, and I do think Donald Trump will do well in the State of Indiana,” Pence said at the time. “I’m going to campaign hard for the Republican nominee because Indiana needs a partner in the White House.”
