Lamont Williams, 55, pleaded guilty to having sex with an inmate while working at the Indiana Women's Prison.

A former Indiana Department of Correction officer pleaded guilty last week to having sex with an inmate.

Lamont Williams, who was accused of having sex with an offender in the Indiana Women's Prison in October 2014 and January 2015, reached a plea agreement Aug. 2 and was convicted on one count of sexual misconduct.

State Police detectives began investigating Williams in July 2015, after they were contacted by an internal affairs officer at the women's prison. An inmate told the officer that Williams, 55, had sex with her on two occasions while he was on the job.

The inmate, according to court documents, saved Williams' semen in a tissue after she had performed oral sex on him. Police were able to match Williams' DNA with the evidence in the tissue.

When Williams was approached by detectives in December 2015, he denied ever having sex with an inmate. "Nope, never had," he said, according to court documents. He even agreed to take a polygraph test and give a DNA sample.

But he failed the polygraph test, and his DNA came back as a match to the semen in the tissue, court records state.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid," Williams said, crying, after detectives told him "he was being deceptive" during the polygraph. He then admitted to having oral sex with the inmate, "maybe twice," court documents said.

"I was weak," Williams told investigators. "I have never been that weak before."

Williams initially was charged with two counts of sexual misconduct and one count of official misconduct but had two of the charges dismissed as part of the deal.

The Indiana Department of Correction fired him Feb. 1.

According to Williams' plea deal, the prosecutor will "recommend no more than two years initial executed time" in the Department of Correction, and Williams must undergo HIV testing before his sentencing Sept. 20.
