A heat advisory is in effect across much of Indiana from 10 a.m. Friday, July 22, until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 23.

The National Weather Service has extended the state's heat advisory through Sunday at 8 p.m.

Sunday's high temperature is forecast at 92 degrees with a heat index of up to 105 degrees.

The weekend's heat wave blanketed most of the state and has created the possibility of severe thunderstorms in the following days, according to the National Weather Service. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued, with torrential rainfall, lightning and gusty winds possible.

Strong storms are also possible into next week as a cold front begins moving into the area Sunday evening.

Officials advise residents to stay out of the sun and drink plenty of fluids. Stay in air-conditioned areas if possible and be sure to check in on relatives and neighbors.
