Interactive Intelligence agrees to $1.4 billion sale

Interactive Intelligence, a pioneer that helped put Indianapolis technology companies on the map, announced it will be sold to a California firm.

Genesys, based in San Francisco, is buying Interactive Intelligence in a deal worth $1.4 billion, the companies announced Wednesday morning.

Interactive's co-founder and CEO Don Brown said the sale "follows a careful evaluation of strategic alternatives, provides Interactive Intelligence shareholders with immediate and significant value, and will deliver meaningful benefits to our customers, partners and employees."

"I am excited for the combined company to continue to grow and meet the needs of organizations around the world,” Brown said in a news release.

Interactive Intelligence, founded in 1991 and employing about, 2,200, makes software for call centers and business communications. Genesys provides call center and customer service technology.
