IMPD investigations are on the scene of a shooting in the 2800 block of Station Street Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016.

Officers were dispatched to multiple calls of shots fired in the 2800 block of Station Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim in the driver's seat of a white SUV with a gunshot to his upper torso.

The SUV had apparently been traveling southeast on Station Street when it struck the back end of a black pickup truck that had been legally parked on the side of the street, pushing it diagonally into the street, according to Deputy Chief of Patrol Valerie Cunningham.

The man was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in extremely critical condition.

The victim's identification is unknown at this time, Cunningham said. IMPD has sent a fingerprint scanner to Eskenazi to determine the man's identity.

Additionally, Cunningham said there is no person of interest identified at this time.

Investigators believe the victim may have been shot about a half-block away from where he was found, Cunningham said. Crime scene tape lines much of the block, she said, so officers can search the street for evidence.

Investigators will be canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.

No additional information has been released.
