A 7-year-old girl was found unharmed Tuesday after her reported abduction in Greenwood prompted police to issue an Amber Alert.

The girl’s mother, 27-year-old Morgan Negri, had picked her up from North Grove Elementary School at around 10:50 a.m.

Shortly after, the girl’s father came to the school with a court order issued early Tuesday that gave him sole custody rights of the child, according to a statement issued by Center Grove Community Schools.

He called 911 when he learned the school had released Negri to her mother. Police issued an Amber Alert at around 2:20 p.m. About 20 minutes later, Greenwood police found the girl.

School district officials say “all procedures and protocols were followed” in the situation. Negri had been listed in student records as a custodial parent for the child, according to the district.

The incident remained under investigation Tuesday.
