Center Grove senior football standout Russ Yeast committed to Louisville on Monday night.

Yeast, the son of former Kentucky star and NFL receiver Craig Yeast, said last month that Louisville was recruiting him as either a defensive back or receiver. He took an official visit to Louisville over the weekend and had also taken officials to Auburn and Iowa. Yeast was also considering Alabama and Ole Miss, among his many offers.

Yeast, considered a contender for IndyStar Mr. Football, has rushed for 964 yards and 10 touchdowns and caught 19 passes for 356 yards and five TDs this season for Center Grove. The 5-11, 185-pound Yeast transferred to Center Grove from Fremont, Ohio, after his father took an assistant coaching position at Franklin College.

“First, I want to say how truly thankful I am to God for blessing me with the opportunity and talent to play the sport I love,” Yeast posted on his Twitter account Monday night. “I want to say thank you to all the schools and coaches that wanted me to be a part of their program. With that being said I would like to announce that I have officially committed to the University of Louisville.”

Center Grove is ranked No. 3 in Class 6A and hosts Jeffersonville on Friday in a sectional game.
