Human bones found on south side near I-465

Homicide detectives are investigating after apparent human remains were found on the far south side Monday morning.

Acting on an anonymous tip, officers found bones about 7:30 a.m. in a wooded area near I-465 and East Street, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department news release.

Investigators and the Marion County coroner's office were working to determine the victim's identity and a cause of death.
