Two men were killed and another was hospitalized in critical condition after a car crashed into an occupied IndyGo bus stop early Sunday.

According to a statement from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of West 29th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. streets.

Upon arrival, police located the car that hit the bus stop and three men lying on the ground. One of the men, 61-year-old Marvin Kinchlow, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died.

The other two victims were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Later in the day, 59-year-old Eugene Guzman died from his injuries.

The third person's name has not been released.

The driver told police that he was heading south on MLK approaching 29th Street when an eastbound vehicle ran a red light at the intersection and forced the driver of the southbound vehicle off the road.

The southbound vehicle swerved into the southeast corner of the intersection where it struck the bus stop where the three men were sitting.

"Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, but the driver was offered and voluntarily consented to a certified blood draw to screen his blood for illegal intoxicants," said an IMPD statement. "This procedure is standard for accidents involving (serious bodily injury) or death."

All lanes of traffic reopened, and the crash remains under investigation.
