John Calipari: 'We're not coming to Indiana'

Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari stood firm on his take about potential games against the Indiana Hoosiers when asked earlier this week.

"Other people get involved (and say) you’ve got to come to our place," Calipari said on The Rich Eisen Show. "No, we’re not coming to Indiana."

ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale started the Kentucky-Indiana discussion again with a tweet on Wednesday asking for Calipari and Indiana coach Tom Crean to put the match-up on the regular-season schedule.

Crean, speaking to reporters last week in Hawaii about a potential annual meeting with Kansas, mentioned Kentucky without being prompted.

"This would definitely be something we’d love, to get something going, even potentially down the road with Kentucky," Crean said. "I think Kansas would fit right into that, if we could make it work out. Especially in a home-and-home situation, I think that could be really good."

The two schools last met in the regular season in December of 2011, when Indiana's Christian Watford hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to upset then-No. 1 Kentucky 73-72 in Bloomington at Assembly Hall. Since then, UK and Indiana played twice in the NCAA tournament. Kentucky won 102-90 in 2012 Sweet Sixteen and the Hoosiers earned a 73-67 victory in the Round of 32 last season. UK leads the all-time series, 32-25.

"I’m not going to do anything home and home, and Indiana didn’t want to do it," Calipari said. "Tom and I are friends, we talk all the time.

"Home and home is not happening. We talked about playing two years in Indianapolis and they said no. So, those, right now, these schedules are out ahead a couple years. It may be in the future. There may be something in the future."
