Hot Property: High-tech $3M escape on the lake

The master bedroom offers stunning views of the property.

Perched atop a wooded peninsula overlooking Lake Monroe is a rustic contemporary home unique in its style and surroundings.

The home at 2771 E. Pedigo Bay Drive, Bloomington, was completed in 2016 as a weekend retreat for its current owners, but it's now on the market for just under $3 million.

For that, you get about 8,500 square feet of luxury mixed with whimsy, a custom home where elements of wood, metal, water and fire combine for the perfect feng shui, based on the Chinese theory of environmental harmony in a home.

Broker Joe Shoemaker with Encore Sotheby's International Realty runs out of superlatives when describing the home. Stunning, spectacular, sophisticated, super cool. It's all of these, he says.

"There's not a hair's breadth of defect in this house," he added, from the perfect seams in the wide-plank wood floors to the smooth glass tile in the kitchen and the creative light fixtures overhead. "It's just absolutely stunning, not only in material selection, but in execution."

And, he said, "it's such a peaceful place to be."

An outdoor fireplace takes the chill off.

Situated on 9-plus acres with 1,200 feet of waterfront, the five-bedroom, six-bath home features an indoor infinity pool with waterfalls and an expansive outdoor porch overlooking the lake with a fireplace, television and plenty of room to grill.

Sweeping views of the water and woods are easy to appreciate from most rooms in the home. Visitors who enter off the driveway are guided down a winding stone walkway that appears to be leading to the edge of a cliff with a ravine on the other side.

You don't have to look hard to see the coyotes, foxes, osprey, hawks and owls that make the surrounding forest their home.

Back inside, fabricated beams add texture to the ceiling of the first-floor living space, making a cavernous space feel cozier.

The master suite on the first floor features his and her baths and a bedroom with picturesque views of the property and another screened-in porch.

An indoor pool features waterfalls.

On the second floor, guest bedrooms, all with full baths, follow a whimsical theme: the classic Chevy pickup truck room with old toolboxes as nightstands; the summer camp room with built-in bunk beds, lockers for dressers and buckets for sink basins in the bathroom. In another room, the bed appears to be hanging by ropes, but it's just an illusion.

"Lots of folks looking in this price range will want to keep the furniture," Shoemaker said, because it is custom built for the space.

A large recreation area upstairs includes a wet bar and theater room, perfect for parties. A second staircase leads down to the mudroom off the three-car garage.

The property features advanced home automation and security systems and is accessed through a gated entry.
