No jail time for women accused of human trafficking

Three women who were accused of forcing a teenager into prostitution will not spend time in jail, according to a plea agreement struck with prosecutors.

Prosecutors in November charged Indianapolis residents Ciera Beauchamp, 25; Brandi Beauchamp, 24; and Ashley Breedlove, 29, with felonies related to human sex trafficking after a 17-year-old girl told social service workers that Ciera Beauchamp forced her to have sex for money.

In an agreement filed Wednesday, the women will serve their sentences on probation or home detention, according to their attorney, Mitchell Solomon.

Ciera Beauchamp agreed to plead guilty to promoting prostitution as a level 4 felony, Solomon said. The agreement says she will serve six years, with four suspended and two served on GPS-monitored home detention. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed the greater felony of promoting the human trafficking of a minor, as well as a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The other two co-defendants, who Solomon said were involved to a lesser extent, also submitted guilty pleas:

• Brandi Beauchamp, Ciera's sister, will admit to promoting prostitution as a level 5 felony. She will serve two years of probation.
• Ashley Breedlove, Ciera'a girlfriend, will plead guilty to assisting a criminal, a level 6 felony, and will spend one year on probation.

The investigation in October began when Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers were called to a residence on the city's south side for a domestic incident. The teenager told officers she no longer wanted to live with Ciera Beauchamp, her court-appointed guardian, because the woman had slapped her.

But in follow-up interviews with the Department of Child Services, the girl reported that Ciera forced her into prostitution by posting photos of her on a website known for sex trafficking, according to the probable cause affidavit. She then turned over the money to Ciera.

The girl said Ciera told her that prostitution was a "fast and easy" way to make sure she always had money and clothes, a probable cause affidavit said.

The teenager contracted a sexually transmitted disease in the process, court documents said.

Court documents indicated that Breedlove and Brandi Beauchamp knew about the prostitution, and some of the advertisements were posted by accounts linked to Breedlove.

The women are expected to appear in court on Monday to formally plead guilty.

The girl was removed from Ciera Beauchamp's home, according to a spokeswoman for the Marion County prosecutor's office.

Solomon said the women have apologized to the girl.

"They are very remorseful for what has happened," he said. "They are very sorry the whole thing ever happened."
