Jeff Holloway was named the new boys basketball coach at Avon.

Avon has named coaches to lead its boys and girls basketball programs.

Jeff Holloway, a former coach at Muncie Central and Union Modoc, is the new Avon boys coach. Holloway won Class A sectional championships at Union in 2012 and ’13 during a six-year tenure. He was hired at Muncie Central in 2014 and compiled a 36-37 record in three seasons with the Bearcats.

Avon’s most-recent winning season came in 2011-12 and the Orioles haven’t won a sectional since 2002. Holloway replaces Jason Young, who resigned after a 13-year tenure at Avon. The Orioles graduate their top six scorers from an 11-12 season.

“I am extremely honored and privileged to be named the head coach of the Avon Orioles basketball team,” Holloway said. “I’m excited to get started. I will give all that I have to make sure we continue to have a team and program that our community and fans will be proud of.”

Corie West was named the Avon girls coach. West led New Castle to a 65-25 record the past four seasons, including a sectional championship last season.

The Avon girls program hasn’t had a winning season since 2007-08 and hasn’t won a sectional since 1993. West will be Avon’s fourth coach in four seasons.
