Sen. Joe Donnelly said he was wearing a Delphi softball uniform at Thursday's congressional baseball game to honor Abby Williams and Libby German, two Delphi teens killed while hiking earlier this year. Their slayings remain unsolved.

In a day already filled with emotion after Rep. Steve Scalise and four others were shot Wednesday practicing for Thursday’s annual congressional baseball game, U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly honored the town of Delphi and two eighth-graders killed earlier this year.

In a Twitter post from Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., Donnelly was wearing a Delphi softball uniform.

He tells the camera: “I have Abby and Libby and Delphi in my heart.”

Donnelly followed it up after the game, which his Democratic squad won 11-2, with this: "It was an honor to wear the Delphi shirt for our girls, Abby and Libby, who are always in our heart. And we promise we'll do everything we can to find who did that."

Abby Williams and Libby German were killed Feb. 13 while hiking on the Monon High Bridge Trail in Delphi. The case remains under investigation and no arrests have been made, despite the work of dozens of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.

The two girls were softball players who were aiming to play for Delphi Community High School next year.
