15-year-old arrested in triple homicide at Washington Township apartment

Update 10:45 a.m. July 18, 2017: Metropolitan police arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the shooting deaths of three men in a Washington Township apartment Sunday, police said Tuesday.

Detectives believe the juvenile shot Dominique Miller, 25; Jordan Wright, 25; and Justin Crowder, 19, during a robbery involving illegal drugs, IMPD spokesman Sgt. Kendale Adams said.

Adams said the boy was held Tuesday in the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police cars investigate the shooting that left three dead.

The boy does not live at the apartment, Adams said.

Police are looking for one or two other suspects who were involved in the incident, IMPD said in a news release.

Update 10:30 a.m. July 17, 2017:

The Marion County coroner's office identified the three men killed at an apartment Sunday as Dominique Miller, 25; Jordan Wright, 25; and Justin Crowder, 19.

Sunday, July 16:

Three people were found fatally shot in a Washington Township apartment Sunday evening.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said five people were in the apartment when they arrived, responding to a call reporting the shooting in the 7800 block of Somerset Bay around 6 p.m. Three adult males were apparently fatally shot.

Witnesses saw a couple of people earlier fleeing the apartment in a car, police said. Officials believe the apartment was targeted, although they aren't releasing why, and said there is no threat to the community.

Police aren't releasing any description of the people who fled or details about the two people who were alive in the apartment when police arrived. Officers said it's unclear if those two had been hiding. Both were in custody and being questioned by police. There were no signs of a break-in, police said.

Neighbors were surprised, saying this was usually a quiet community.

"It's weird," said Tina Harmon, who has lived in the complex for about a year. "We know crime happens everywhere, but it's so quiet around here."

Even Captain Harold Turner said it came as a surprise. He said there had been no previous calls to the area.

"This is a very good apartment building," he said.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
