Bartholomew County raid uncovers meth lab, nearly 100 guns, improvised explosives

A drug bust in Bartholomew County on Thursday, Aug. 3, uncovered an active meth lab, a pot-growing operation, nearly a hundred guns and home-made explosives, according to Indiana State Police.

While serving a warrant in Bartholomew County Thursday night, local and federal agents found an active meth lab, a pot-growing operation, nearly a hundred guns and improvised explosives.

Troopers with the Indiana State Police, Versailles District All Crimes Policing Unit were serving the warrant Thursday after receiving a tip that there was drug activity at 7650 W. State Road 46 in Columbus, according to a release from Indiana State Police.

The investigation uncovered:

  • An operational methamphetamine lab.
  • A marijuana-growing operation.
  • About an ounce of methamphetamine.
  • 5 grams of heroin.
  • 25 pounds of marijuana.
  • 10 pounds of pseudoephedrine.
  • 75 guns.
  • Ammunition.
  • 8 improvised explosive devices.

Gregory A. Traylor, 59, the owner of the house, was arrested and transported to Bartholomew County Jail.

Traylor faces preliminary charges of manufacturing meth, possession of meth, dealing a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing marijuana, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine precursors with intent to manufacture, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a destructive device.

The investigation is ongoing and could lead to additional charges and arrests.

“It’s still too early to say how organized it is,” Sergeant Stephen Wheeles of the Indiana State Police told Fox59, “we don’t know how deep the operation runs.”
