Child shot on Indianapolis’ Near Northside

Star report

A 3-year-old boy was shot Thursday on Indianapolis’ Near Northside.

Officers were dispatched at 4:38 p.m. to the 1100 block of West 27th Street, according to a news release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers were told that the child was shot after he answered a knock at the door, the release said.

The child, who was not identified, was shot in the arm. He was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in good condition.

The mother and child apparently were visiting from Chicago, said Lt. Chris Bailey, spokesman for IMPD.
