Indianapolis weather: Mostly sunny, high 60, Paul Poteet says

What kind of spring is this? We haven't even had a 60 degree day since April 3. That's what we're going for today in Indy.

It will be a degree or two shy of 60 in Lafayette, Kokomo, Richmond and Muncie. Expect low 60s in Terre Haute, Bloomington and Columbus.

The sky should be sunny in the morning, and a few fair weather clouds are possible in the afternoon. The wind today is not a big deal.

It will be tomorrow. Those big Thursday breezes will pump in the first shot at 70 we've had this season. The day will start with sunshine. I have made a change to Thursday's afternoon forecast, bringing in a shower and storm chance by afternoon, especially from Indianapolis northward. I still think showers and storms are possible statewide Thursday night and maybe early Friday morning.

The front that's responsible will slip slowly southward, stalling near the Ohio River (happens all the time) Friday. That has caused another change. I think a scattered shower or storm is possible Friday afternoon, although the chance will stay south of Lafayette over to Muncie.

Outdoor plans Saturday? You're good! Another shot at 70.

It will still be warm Sunday but showers and storms get into the mix, especially in the afternoon and evening. Again: another system slows.

Rain remains Monday. Colder air pours in behind it Monday night, and rain could easily mix with a little snow. Highs by Tuesday will only be in the 40s. Hopefully that will be the subject of a *future* forecast change.
